Rocky was adopted to a couple in Toledo in 2006, when he was only six weeks old. If, after an animal is adopted from S.P.A., they must be given up for any reason at any time in the future, S.P.A. welcomes them back with open arms becasue we feel that their future is our responsibility and we make a pledge to each animal we rescue that we will protect them for the rest of their lives.
Well, after seven years Rocky was returned due to divorce and relocation, and as you might imagine, he was traumatized from the change.
Rocky hid when introduced to S.P.A.'s cat shelter, and I am sure he wondered why his world had beed turned upside down.
I assured him that another special family was out there somewhere, and immeditaly began searching for someone who could give Rocky the love he was hoping for.
And soon, Rocky's dreams came true... thanks to an extra-special couple, Ken and Marlene Olsen, who had recently lost their much-loved feline, Punk'n.
Thanks Ken and Marlene for giving this sweet boy the extra special home he's been waiting for! I mean...just how lucky can a boy kitty get?

Did You Know? It's that time of year again... when bunnies are sold in pet shops and farm supply stores with the idea that they'll make great Easter gifts for children. Unfortunately, many of these rabbits end up in shelters in the months following Easter and are destroyed. Rabbits are a ten year commitment and RABBITS ARE NOT TOYS! WHO'S WHO IN ANIMAL RESCUE?
There are hundreds of humane societies across the U.S. and they have no connection with each other. Some are no kill organizations, some aren't. Some are non-profit, 501(c)3 organizations, others are not. Some humane societies are actually part of their county's paid employees, but most humane societies are locally formed, independent organizations and are comprised of unpaid volunteers. Most volunteer-based organizations rely on contributions of volunteers and private donations. Each organization sets up its own rules and guidelines. CLICK READ MORE BELOW!

Ripley was initially adopted by a young woman who lives in an apartment complex. He wasn't socialized with other dogs as a puppy, so consequently he is now frightened when other dogs run up to him when he is on a leash He's housetrained, knows tricks, and loves people. His current owner wants him rehomed by November, and if we can't find a good home for him by then, we'll have to place him in boarding, and that would be really hard on poor little Ripley. A forever home would be best, but finding a good foster home for him would be great, too. Click READ MORE below for more photos and a thorough description.

Four mighty special dogs who S.P.A. rescued from the Sandusky County Dog Pound are studying to earn their Bachelor's degree, thanks to Buchele's K-9 Service, LLC who are now offering a wonderful training program called C.L.A.S.S.! These special classes teach rescued dogs basic training making adjustment to their new families easier, not only for them, but for the new families, too.
S.P.A. wants to remind everyone that dogs just as wonderful as these four are at The Sandusky County Dog Pound right now! When the pound becomes full... dogs there are euthanized to make room for the steady influx of innocent castways.
Companion Animals aren't disposable, non-entities. Human beings and dogs require food and water to survive and we are similar in other ways, too. Dogs and cats are able to feel pain, rejection and lonliness as well as a sense of happiness when they receive unconditional love. They're not a toy or a video game. THEY FEEL AND THEY THINK, TOO.

THANK-YOU, PETCO!
All S.P.A. members (as well as the animals we’ve rescued) sincerely thank Sandusky, Ohio Petco for selecting S.P.A. as this year’s recipient for Petco’s TREE OF HOPE DONATION!
Throughout the holiday season, Petco employees asked shoppers checking out if they’d like to donate to a worthy animal rescue organization. THANKS TO ALL PETCO EMPLOYEES WHO MADE THIS DONATION POSSIBLE! And a special thanks to Irene Opp, who we were told went above and beyond in support of S.P.A.!
And without the support of Petco shoppers, the TREE OF HOPE FUNDRAISER would not be possible, so HUGE THANKS to all Petco Shoppers who cared enough to donate $1735!
Also, special thanks to Sandusky Petco managers: Tammy, Mandy, Rich and Sharron. They are always welcoming and brimming with great ideas!
And Tom and Megan, what can S.P.A. say to you two that even begins to thank you not only for your willingness to help the animals S.P.A. has rescued, but for your deep level of commitment to help all suffering animals in need?
