Trunk (the boxer boy above) can be seen on a billboard in Sandusky County advertising adoption of rescued dogs and cats saying, "DON'T BREED OR BUY WHILE OTHERS DIE." S.P.A. rescued Trunk from Lorain, Ohio. He had sores (he still has scars) on his neck from a make-shift prong collar of chicken wire that the ignorant and inhumane people who had him were jerking him around with. His dew claws had been removed with a pocket knife or some other dull instrument, and his tail still has small pieces of bone extruding from the stump from being cut off by hand, unprofessionally, in the middle of a vertebra. We have been fostering Trunk for almost two years now. He is special needs as he has the propensity to become unpredictable around people who approach him who he doesn't know. He is afraid of most people. Go figure... He often has nightmares, and we gently wake him and tell him everything will be ok in a soft voice. Trunk loves us with all of his heart, and he has brought endless joy into our lives. He is so human like, in so many ways. He is extremely intelligent. Doesn't he make a great poster dog?

Billboard advertising enables S.P.A. to reach a lot of people for a resonable rate. Because we are a 501(c)3, we receive a discount on the billboards we purchase.

We have designed a series of billboards that promote adoption of rescued animals as well as the importance of spaying and neutering pets.

When you donate to S.P.A.'s Billboard Campaign your name will be listed as a Platinum, Gold or Silver Donor on our web page and will also be listed in our next newsletter.

Platinum Donors can also choose to have their or a loved one's name printed on the billboard as the sponsor! If you'd like to give in memory or in honor of a beloved family member or pet, then we will be happy to list their name instead.

Billboard Donations can be made online to S.P.A.'s PAYPAL account.

Remember to include name as you would like it to appear in the next S.P.A. Newsletter, on our Web Page Donors' List, and, if a Platinum Donor, "In honor of _______" or "In Memory of _______" to be printed on our next billboard.

OUR FIRST BILLBOARD DESIGN

Our first billboard design will remind passersby to adopt their next cat or dog from a shelter or dog pound.

Mixed breed dogs are often healthier than dogs purchased from backyard breeders and they will spend the rest of their lives thanking you!

If you are interested in adopting a purebred dog, consider adopting from a breed specific rescue.

It is important to remind Sandusky County citizens that spaying and neutering their pets is the only answer to reducing the number of unwanted animals that are taken to shelters each year.

Spaying and neutering helps reverse the tragedy of pet overpopulation, reduces your pet's chances of developing deadly, costly medical problems, and improves your pet's behavior.

One cat and her offspring can produce up to 420,000 kittens in seven years. One dog and her offspring can produce up to 67,000 puppies in six years. (Spay USA)

An estimated 5 million cats and dogs are killed in shelters each year. That's one about every six and one half seconds. (HSUS)

Millions more are abandoned, only to suffer from illness or injury before dying. (Doris Day Animal League)

Seven dogs and cats are born every day for each person born in the U.S. Of those, only 1 in 5 puppies and kittens stay in their original home for their natural lifetime. The remaining 4 are abandoned to the streets or end up at shelters. (HSUS)

Each day 10,000 humans are born in the U.S. and each day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born. As long as these birth rates exist, there will never be enough homes for all the animals. (Spay USA)
