We are sorry for the loss of your pet, your friend, who offered you and your family unconditional love. Whether your pet became part of your family as a very young puppy/kitten (or other type of animal) or as an adult, we know it didn't take long for you to develop a deep and meaningful bond with your very special, furry friend. More and more people are celebrating their pet's birthdays, taking their pets along when they vacation, and, in general, have come to realize the important role that their pets play in their lives.

Other stories on S.P.A.'s WebPages that may offer you comfort upon losing your beloved pet are, "The Old Man and his Dog" and "Rainbow Bridge". Both are listed in the side bar to the right.

May you find comfort as you recall the many happy memories you share of your pet. Your life is now richer, and was forever changed by your pet's presence in your life.

Do no stand at my grave and weep,

I am not there. I do not sleep.

I am the thousand winds what blow,

I am the diamond glint on snow,

I am the sunlight on ripened grain,

I am the gentle Autumn rain.

When you awake in the morning light,

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circling flight.

I am the soft star shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,

I am not there . . . I did not die.

Image - - Lucky belonged to Sunny

Lucky belonged to Sunny "Bobbie" Bauman (formerly knows as SUNNY DARE WITH THE BLUE HAIR). He was her favorite boy. Bobbie spent years in show business and traveled around the world as a headliner in Burlesque in the days when the art of burlesque was embraced and appreciated. Bobbie elbowed with many of the then famous celebrities. Eventually, she settled in Toledo, where she rescued four unique and lovely dogs. She saved their lives. One day (many years after her burlesque days) Bobbie received word from her Doctor that she had Alzheimer's Disease. She called S.P.A. after a very special common friend named Joni suggested she do so. S.P.A. agreed to take in all four of Bobbie's beloved dogs; Lucky, Bubba, Sugar and Honey. Lucky, an adorable senior Basset Beagle Mix (we called him a 'bagel) recently passed away while in the care of a much loved foster home named THE BECK FAMILY. Doug and Michelle Beck and their wonderful kids opened up their hearts and home to give Little Lucky his final dose of real love! The Becks agreed to foster Lucky even though he was special needs. Lucky was diabetic, and required insulin shots each day. Michelle is an RN. Who better to give this unique little boy all of the special care he required? In June of 08, Little Lucky Boy the Bagel died from complications of pancreatic cysts. A member of S.P.A. was WITH HIM when he passed at the vet's office in July of 08. He was suffering, and S.P.A. had to make that really difficult decision. We didn't want him to suffer. Bobbie soon took residence in a wonderful nurse care facility where her family and friends visited with her often. Bobbie then developed pancreatic cancer. She left us on 8-8-08. We just know that she had to be happy as a clam to see her Lucky Dog, waiting for her at Rainbow Bridge! Lucky was a one in a million "Bagel". He had experienced a few rough roads in his life^^^^ but kept smiling and wagging and running ahead. If you had met him you'd know just what I mean. And Bobbie's life was much the same. They had that in common.
