JEWELS NEEDS A SPECIAL FAMILY TO LOVE!

Jewels is now fully vetted and probably about one to two years old. She is afraid of what might happen to her. All she needs is a gentle home who understands the benefits of positive reinforcement. She likes to kiss faces, once she knows they won't bite or hurt her... poor girl.
S.P.A. sends out Action Alerts containing photos and a brief description of all dogs at the Sandusky County Dog Pound in an effort to save their lives. When the pound fills up, dogs there have to be euthanized.
A wonderful volunteer named Sherry Sberna photographs all dogs there and places their photos on Petfinder. Her efforts enable others to SEE these dogs' faces which is a vital component in saving their lives.
S.P.A. creates an Action Alert using the photos taken by Sherry and emails the Alert to well over 1,000 rescues and individuals on S.P.A.'s Action Alert List.
When people see a dog they want to save on a Action Alert they get a hold of Sandy Morton, another volunteer angel. She instructs them how to pay the pull fee through her Paypal Account, and then she writes out a check and runs it to the pound.

Jewels is waiting for someone EXTRA special... could it be you?
Well a wonderful woman and fellow rescuer in Pennsylvania saw Jewels photo on S.P.A.'s Action Alert and contacted S.P.A. immediately stating that she would pay the pull fee and for vetting/boarding. Thank you Nancy Jean Rose! Thank goodness you noticed this diamond in the rough!!!

Jewels loves to sit against you when on a leash beside you. She presses her beautiful head tightly against your leg. You have to know whoever abused this dog is probably abusing their family, too. I am astonished how quickly she has come around for me when I am in her cage with her and take her for walks. Could you be her SPECIAL someone? Just look into her beautiful eyes... what stories I bet they could tell... We want to be able to say... "And Jewels lived happily ever after..." She deserves that.
Jewels is very frightened from what has happened to her. We have a feeling she was never given the love she is thirsty for.
She is currently being boarded at a vet's office because WE ARE IN REAL NEED OF RELIABLE, LOVING FOSTER HOMES! She'll come around much more quickly once she is in a home environment. Have you ever thought about fostering? Foster families serve as one of the most important stepping stones in these castaway animals' lives.
Jewels barks when you approach her kennel and it would be easy to mistakingly assume she is an aggressive dog, but she isn't. She so much wants to be loved.
I walk into her kennel at the vet's and sit on the floor quietly. Her hackles are up and she begins barking, but within a minute she slowly walks over to me then all of a sudden begins licking my face and wagging. When I move, she walks backwards. My guess would be that she was struck by a human in her past. And I can't help but think that she is worried about what happened to her babies, and frankly, I am worried about that, too.
Jewels is a sweet and very special girl who needs to be adopted/fostered by someone who is gentle, patient. Someone who understands the effets of abuse and neglect.
I wish I had time to foster this diamond in the rough. The pound named her, and I am not sure if they know how perfect the name they chose for her is.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Jewels, please fill out our online application by clicking ADOPT & FOSTER above.
One person, one family willing to provide Jewels with love and reassurance is all this sweet girl wants and needs.
Please, think about it...
